Tips, Strategies, and Stories to Shake It Up!
Listen to an expanded conversation around this newsletter:
A Blank Page is Ready and Waiting for You⌠What Are You Going to Do With It?
Thereâs something about a fresh new sparkling new year that feels like a blank page just waiting for a new story to be written on it. The close of 2024 is kindaâ like the end of a chapter in our books of life and we all have the opportunity to close that chapter.
If itâs been a tough year, we can put it behind us and leave it there (while of course taking lessons learned along with us⌠it would be a waste of a tough year if we didnât do that!) đ If it was a great year, we can keep it all tucked away into our fondest memory banks. But either way - Chapter 2024 is over and we have the rather exciting new opportunity to look forward and dream as big or as little as we would like (or dare to) as we start to create our chapter that is now becoming 2025 (whether we are intentionally writing our 2025 story or not⌠itâs happening!)
What do you think? We think we might as well intentionally create our life story so we can experience the things that are thrilling to us instead of just hanging on and trying to make it through each day. (Although, letâs be real: sometimes the Universe throws a few things our way to make it a little more interesting!).
Become Your Own Visual Story Creator
Creating a visual story of your upcoming year is like planning a fun Disney (or insert where you love to go) vacation. Where are you going to stay? How long are you going to be there? What outfits are you going to wear? What places do you get to go see or visit? What kinds of activities will you participate in? What kinds of foods are there, and which ones in particular are you going to make sure you get your hands on? Planning a vacation can be just as fun as actually going!
Planning your 2025 âstoryâ can have that same fun energy! â¨
When planning a vacation, you go and LOOK at everything available to you. Visually. You can do the same with your upcoming year to make it feel more real!
One little tool our daughter told us about is a new feature in Pinterest called âCollages.â Itâs not currently available on desktop, but it is available on smartphones and iPads. Go to Pinterest on your phone or iPad and click the little â+ Createâ button on the bottom and select âCollage.â Simply follow the instructions from there! You can then download it to your computer, print it out, and hang it up.
Having a clear vision of what you really want helps bring it to you:
Research in psychology suggests that when we clearly define our goals, our subconscious begins to engage in a powerful way. Known as the 'Reticular Activating System,' this part of the brain helps us notice opportunities and resources that align with our goals, effectively turning our mental blueprints into reality. By setting clear, well-defined goals, we essentially program our subconscious to work towards these objectives, often leading to serendipitous encounters and ideas that propel us forward.
ANDâŚwhen you create visual representations of your goals you are activating both the conscious and the subconscious. Win-win! đ
Pro Tip: Donât Limit Yourself Based on What Currently âIsâ
We love to have deep conversations with each other, and since we have placed the âWe Play Full Outâ motto onto our lives and our relationship together we revisit it often. What we have discovered is that personality routines (aka comfort zones), resistance, lethargy and fear can have deep and lasting impacts on creating our lives and fully experiencing the time we have here.
Leaning into fear and being willing to step out of comfort zones is one of the most transformative things you can do to expand your life and become who you aspire to be. As humans we always want to feel confident before we go too far with anything, but the paradox of life is that confidence comes as we do the thing that we donât feel confident in. The more we do them, the more confident we become!
Sunny:
There was a time in my life where I was not happy with my body. I didnât necessarily want to be a size 0 or anything, but I was gaining some weight to where my confidence was low. I didnât want to attend events or go places where I would have to interact or get photos with people because I didnât feel comfortable in my own skin. I was working out and thought I was making progress⌠until I saw some photos of myself at my oldest daughterâs wedding. I clearly had not been making the progress I thought.
This challenge for me was taking way too much of my energy and stopping me from fully living my life.
Bart helped me line out Jeff Later as my new fitness coach and ooohhhh man! That first âbeforeâ photo I sent over to him was a tough one! Especially since that photo made me realize I was further behind in my fitness than I thought! I spent about a year with him. I was making slow progress but it wasnât quite what I wanted it to be.
Bart had done some bodybuilding competitions and I swore I would never do them. It terrified me to think about walking across a stage in such a tiny little bikini! I come from a very conservative religion where showing your body is highly looked down upon. In fact, I couldnât even just wear a sports bra in the gym - I was always covered all the way up! I decided this was a pattern I needed to change, and if I really wanted to change my body I needed to do something drastic. Leaning into fear and giving myself a heavy dose of a pattern interrupt seemed to be the only way for me to get a different result than what I was doing.
I started with my fear of being âuncovered.â I went to our local little lake that has a walking path lined with trees surrounding it. I waited until there was no one in sight and quickly took my t-shirt off (yes, I still had my sports bra on)! Full of anxiety, I walked about 150 steps (rather quickly, too, I must say!) to my car and quickly threw my shirt back on. Thatâs as far as I could go! Every day I tried to do it again .. and slowly I also went a little further and little further.
THEN I signed up for a bikini competition and got to work getting ready for it. I put the time in and started to see quicker results. However, it still took me quite a bit of time and experienced a few setbacks along the way. At the end of the day, I did get there and I did walk across that stage! Imagine the girl who was scared to walk 150 steps with a sports bra on now stepping fully nude into a spray tanning booth while another human was doing the spraying! Haha! CRAZY!
That experience was a transformative journey for me and ultimately increased my confidence in my body and in myself! Had I not taken that major step toward fear, I never would have achieved and become what I ultimately wanted (and needed) at that time in my life.
Bart:
Bart is one who is always ready to jump right into a new ecosystem and doesnât hold back. From a cowboy who wore Wranglers, boots, and a cowboy hat to a cyclist wearing full-on cycling kit complete with spandex, he never seems phased by any of it. Even when his cowboy friends mocked him and gave him a hard time, he smiled through it and had fun with it. We always joke that Sunny likes to dip her toes into the water to see how warm or cold it is and Bart just cannonballs right in!
Once in awhile, though, he does step out of his comfort zone. One example would be when Russell Brunson asked Bart to style him for the first time for Funnel Hacking Live. Bart is an amazing stylist⌠but he puts a lot of pressure on himself when it comes to helping other people present themselves to the world through their style. If the style is incongruent with their message it can make or break the event. Itâs a lot of pressure that is a big deal to him!
However, he stepped up to the challenge and has now successfully styled Russell for about six years. This has also lead to the launch of our Magnetic program⌠one we probably would not have if he had not said âyesâ to that opportunity.
Ideas for You! đĄ
What are some things you can do this year to switch up your energy? To break from routine? To intentionally change your personality or expand your life experience?
Some simple ideas:
Regularly try new foods you normally wouldnât try when you go out to eat
Try a new hairstyle or a new style of clothing
Venture beyond your normal network or way of doing things by trying a new hobby. Try something that interests you and even try something that doesnât!
Listen to different music in a different genre
Set a âYesâ day where you spend a day saying âyesâ to new experiences that come your way, no matter how unusual they may seem
Some bigger ideas:
Sign up for something that scares you (in a good way)! A 10k or a bodybuilding competition or a new business mastermind are just a few ideas!
Attend a meetup or a new networking group
Explore a new topic that you are actually against and get a new perspective on it (way harder than you might think!)
Learn a new language (Duolingo)!
Explore what projecting means (if you donât know) and how it is affecting your life!
Hereâs to 2025! Have some fun this week planning, exploring, and begin writing this new and exciting chapter in your life!
Life Updates:
Well! We made it back from Wickenburg, AZ! Itâs a 13 hour drive and letâs just say it was way more fun heading to warm weather than coming back to the cold! The perception shift is pretty fun to experience once we get home, though. After living in a trailer for almost 2 weeks, walking into our house feels like an absolute mansion! Thereâs SO much room! Haha!
Bart practiced roping while we were there and entered up into a jackpot the last day we were there. He absolutely crushed it and roped like a rockstar! We were both super excited about how well he did! But⌠it is team roping and it takes more than one person to win!
AlsoâŚ(cough, cough)⌠we are undefeated pickleball champions in Wickenburg! Wickenburg is a tiny little roping town, but they have some AMAZING pickleball courts. We had so much fun playing pickleball together (OUTSIDE) in the warm sun!
As far as business goes, we just started running our first-ever challenge: the Epic Execution Challenge! Weâll update you on how that goes next week - what went right, what went wrong, and all the in-between!
