Transform Negative Shifts Instantly and Boost Your Business with Winning Retail Strategies

We Play Full Out with Bart and Sunny

Man, have we got some crazy cool stuff to share with you today! In our MAGNETIC program, we have teamed up with Dr. Gabe Roberts, author of the book From Pain to Purpose. He is guiding us through healing our relationship with our inner selves, as well as helping us match our self-identity to our dreams and goals. Powerful stuff!

In the course of his training and facilitating, he has taught us quite a great deal about how our brains, emotions, and bodies work together. This is the type of information that would have absolutely changed the course of our lives if we had learned it at a young age… but we are grateful to know it now so we can move forward more energetically aligned with the life we want to create for ourselves. And bonus points that we also have the opportunity for our kids to learn it now.

Emotions Want to Stay Alive in You

Ever have one of those negative emotional spirals that you just can’t seem to get out of? There’s a reason for that! When we have a big shift in our emotions, they become so strong that they almost become a life force of their own, a living organism. As with any living thing, it wants to stay alive. As a consequence, that negative emotion sends signals to your brain’s reticular activating system to look for more negativity to keep you in that state. In other words, your brain starts to lie to you and filter out or skew anything that is positive.

On Top of That, Our Psyche’s Have a Bias Toward Negativity

Our brains have a natural bias toward negativity. Say what?! A study on the brain showed what happened when a person walking down the street found a $20 bill. Let’s call her Sue. There was no one around, the bill was just sitting there in broad daylight.. so Sue became $20 richer. Her brain measured one unit of pleasure from that experience.

On the flip side, let’s look at the person who lost the $20. Let’s call him Bob. Bob woke up that morning, put $20 in his pocket and headed out for the day. At some point he pulled open his wallet and discovered his $20 was gone. His brain measured 4-6 units of pain, or negativity.

That is a 4:1. to 6:1 ratio of negativity versus pleasure.

That is why practicing gratitude is so important. It helps even out the things we see, feel, or encounter during the day to help keep us energetically high and in flow states of abundance and joy. It’s also a great reason to stay out of the news or be on top of our game in avoiding negative language, books, music, social media, or TV programs.

How to Instantly Snap out of a Negative Emotional Shift

If you find yourself in that spiral we were talking about and need to get out of it, the most effective (and instantaneous) thing you can do is change your body posture and your breathing.

Think about what happens to you when you feel depressed, anxious, scared, or angry. Your body naturally constricts and your breathing is more shallow. If you shift your body into something like the Victory Pose (standing straight up, arms raised up like you just won something big) and take some deep breaths, it instantaneously shifts you out of that state.

Why? Because your physiology (your body) will always overrun your psychology! Use your body to your advantage and learn how to control your emotional states to your advantage 😃

Get Your Creative Juices Flowing with Retail Stores Sales Strategies!

It’s officially fourth quarter and holiday merchandise is already making an entrance! If you’re trying to put together some really cool bundles for your buyers for Christmas, you can get your creative juices flowing by simply getting out from behind your computer and heading into some retail stores.

For example: today we visited Lush. Lush is a British cosmetics retailer that sells handmade bath and beauty products, such as bath bombs, bubble bars, dry shampoo and more.

Today is October 4th and the holiday bundles hitting their shelves are things like:

  • A “gift a day” bundle for a full 30 days

  • A bundle with exclusive bath bombs that you can’t buy outside of the bundle.

  • A treasure box - you get so many guaranteed items in it but you don’t know what they are

  • An advent calendar type of bundle

They also had a table set up in their store with all their most popular products from TikTok on it.

*If it’s not the holidays and you still want to get creative, visit your local grocery store! Grocery stores have done an enormous amount of market research to get the highest average cart value they can out of you the moment you walk into the store. See how they funnel you into the store and where they lead you. Why is the milk always in the back (so you have to walk through the store to get to it)! What are they selling on the little pop-ups at the ends of their rows? What is front and center at checkout?

*Going somewhere like Disney is another great hack. The goal is always the same - how can they increase the amount of money you spend with them? See how and what they are selling… check out all of their upsells. How are they constantly putting offers in front of you and how are they positioning them to make them super enticing?

Start to consider your own websites and funnels. Is everything intentionally architected in a way for you to get the highest cart value out of your customers? What is front and center? What are your offers? What are your bundles? What are your upsells? Downsells? Market research can be so much fun if you take a look and see what is happening all around you!

Life Updates:

  • Today finds us in Salt Lake City, Utah, meeting up with an I Do Epic ELITE client, Dr. Jason Smith. Dr. Smith is an absolute genius in chiropractic neurology and is eliminating pain and helping people reclaim their lives with his cutting edge knowledge and practice. You can find him at the Spine Brain Rehab center in Bountiful, Utah. The absolute most amazing thing we’ve discovered while working with Dr. Smith is… you leave his practice better than when you went in.

  • This week we sat down and started shooting a mini course for our 7-Figure Entrepreneur’s Playbook. The mini course is designed to walk users step-by-step through the Playbook - we tell some fun stories and basically take people by the hand to help them get it done. Really excited to get that finished up and out to the world!

  • Bart has had a challenge with his arm - I think “tennis elbow” is the label we would put on it. The pain became intense enough that it was high time to do something about it. Last Sunday we headed to Pocatello and Dr. Jason West injected his arm with PRP. It has quite sore (especially day one) but is healing up and he’s getting ready to go hit a pickleball and start roping again. Huge thanks to Abby, Dr. West, and Dr. Smith! Although I must say… maybe they don’t need to heal it ALL the way so I have a chance at beating him at pickleball…hahaha…I kid, I kid!

  • Those are the biggest events! Countdown is still on for Baby Lyla… our daughter, Mercedes, is due in 11 days. Mercedes went through her photos and realized the very first photo of her and her husband, Trace, was taken on October 15th. Now, 6 years later, there will be a new photo on that exact same day … this time with Lyla included. How cute is that?!

What’d you think of this week’s newsletter? 🤔
