How to Make Funnel Hacking Live (or Any Event) an Intentional Game-Changer

The Playbook for Making Events Work For You

Listen to an expanded conversation between Bart and Sunny around this newsletter:

The last Funnel Hacking Live is just a few days away! If you’re attending (or any event in the future), you’ve already invested time, energy, and money to be there. But showing up isn’t enough—you need to be intentional about how you experience the event.

Too many people attend conferences, take a ton of notes, get hyped up and inspired… and then go home with a notebook full of ideas they never touch again. In other words, they leave the event completely unchanged. That won’t be you. Not this time.

Here’s how to make sure this event moves the needle for you. How? By walking into FHL (or any event) with intention.

1. Dress Like It Matters (Because It Does)

You will be in a lot of photos—some with high-level people, some shared all over social media. You never know who you are going to run into, and if that perfect photo op presents itself, you don’t want to look like you just stumbled out of bed.

Your outfit isn’t just fabric; it’s your brand, your identity, and your first impression. And, whether you realize it or not, your outfit tells a story before you even open your mouth.

Are you showing up as the person you want to be? In other words, are you dressing like the version of yourself you’re stepping into? Or are you just throwing on whatever was clean or “assume” you are just attending a chill event so your good ‘ole comfy tee is the way to go?

A good rule of thumb: Dress for the connections you want to make. The way you present yourself should match who you are and where you want to go.

That’s why we teach the Magnetic Style framework—because different outfits trigger different responses from the people around you. We suggest:

Day 1: Rockstar Outfit đŸŽ¸ – Bold, eye-catching, magnetic. Think of it as the outfit a celebrity singer or performer would wear when they first walk out on stage. Keep it congruent with who you are stepping into.

Day 2: Magnetic Edge Outfit 🤩 - Still bold and magnetic, but with a more approachable and refined feel. Think of it as the outfit a rockstar wears for a press interview—confident and striking, yet a touch more relaxed than their stage look.

Day 3: Wear Your Own Swag! ⭐️ - Show off your brand! If you have a brand, this is the day to wear your colors, your logo, or whatever you’ve got that represents what you do!

Day 4: Welcome to the Family! đŸ¤ - Warm, approachable, and inviting. Wear comfortable clothes that you love, but still look great. This is the day you have made a lot of friends and you all just get to hang out together. Remember: your photos could potentially be all over social media, so just wear something that is comfortable, but still looks great!

2. Don’t Just Attend to Attend —Know EXACTLY Why You’re There

Ask yourself: What do I actually want to walk away with? Be specific.

Are you there to:

✅ Make high-value business connections?
✅ Find potential podcast guests or collaboration partners?
✅ Get answers to a problem you’re facing in your business?

If you don’t define your what you’re looking for, you’ll just wander from session to session, hoping something "clicks." Instead, walk in knowing exactly what you want to accomplish.

When you introduce yourself, don’t just say, “I run a business that does X.” Instead, say:
"I’m here to meet people who ___ because I’m looking to ___.”

People remember intentional conversations.

That makes you memorable. That makes people say, “Oh, you need to meet so-and-so.” That’s how connections happen.

3. Recognize the Sales Psychology at Play

Let’s be real: most marketing events exist because the hosts want to sell you something. That’s not a bad thing. Some of the best investments you’ll ever make happen in rooms like this.

But... be aware of the emotional high.

Great pitch people are world class masters at getting you emotionally invested - at making you feel like THIS is the thing that’s going to change everything. And maybe it is! But before you swipe your card on a big purchase, ask yourself:

✔️ Does this align with my current business goals?
✔️ Do I have a clear action plan to implement this?
✔️ Am I making this decision from excitement or from strategy?

No regrets. No impulse purchases. Just smart, intentional investments.

4. Wear a “Talking Piece” to Spark Conversations

Want an easy way to connect with people without awkward small talk? Wear something that invites curiosity and gets people talking about something YOU love to talk about.

Examples of “talking pieces”:

🔹 A hat, shirt, shoes, or jacket from a brand you love
🔹 A unique piece of jewelry (like an elk tooth ring for hunters)
🔹 A statement piece that sparks curiosity

It’s an effortless icebreaker. People will ask, “Hey, what’s that about?”—and boom, conversation started… and it’s an easy conversation for you to have because it’s something you love.

5. The Magic Happens After Hours—SHOW UP

The strongest connections aren’t made in the sessions. They’re made after hours.

It’s tempting to crash in your hotel room after a long exhausting day (especially when it’s a multi-day event and you know you have to get up and go again in the morning), but the real opportunities? They’re at the dinners, the after-parties, the small-group meetups. That’s where people relax, open up, and build actual relationships.

And let’s be real: business happens in rooms where people know, like, and trust each other. If you skip the networking, you miss the actual gold.

6. Protect & Project Your Energy

Events like Funnel Hacking Live are an energy game. If you’re drained, distracted, or disengaged, you’ll miss the magic. But if you own your energy, you’ll naturally attract the right people, ideas, and opportunities.

Here’s how to stay high-energy and magnetic the entire time:

🔹 Start strong. The way you walk into a room matters. Shoulders back, head up, energy ON. People mirror the energy you bring—so bring the energy you want to attract.

🔹 Manage your inputs. What you eat, drink, and how much sleep you get will directly impact how you show up. Caffeine and adrenaline will only take you so far—hydration, movement, and real food are your secret weapons.

🔹 Take energy breaks—but don’t disappear. You don’t have to be ‘ON’ 24/7, but disappearing to your hotel room for too long? That’s how you miss key connections. Find ways to recharge without isolating yourself.

🔹 Be intentional about the energy you give. Walk up to people with curiosity, excitement, and confidence. Ask great questions. Listen with presence. The right energy is what makes people remember you long after the event ends.

Want to be unforgettable at an event? It’s not just about what you say—it’s about the energy you bring.

7. Follow Up & Implement—Or You Just Wasted a Trip

What separates the people who actually get an ROI from an event vs. those who just leave hyped up? What happens AFTER.

📌 Follow up. If you had a great conversation, send a quick message. Relationships fade fast if you don’t nurture them.

📌 Take action on ONE thing immediately. Not 27 things. Just one. If you don’t implement something right away, you probably never will.

📌 Stay in the game. This event isn’t a one-time magic pill. It’s fuel. But you’ve got to keep the fire burning.

Go in intentional. Show up as your best self. Make real connections.

And if you see us at FHL, come say hi. We’ll be the ones playing full out.

Life Updates:

  • We have just been home all week, but are gearing up to head to FHL on Monday. Lots to think about and put together… we have our final Magnetic Mastermind on Tuesday morning, a Day with Dan Kennedy the same day, an after hours VIP networking party for Inner Circle…. and another big announcement that we aren’t allowed to talk about yet. AND squished in the middle of all of that is our 30 year wedding anniversary! It’s going to be a crazy week!

  • Xander’s school system got hacked by some malicious hackers - our understanding is that they are holding the school technology for ransom… meaning the school district is locked out of all their technology in return for hackers wanting money to let them back in. Teachers have had to revise their curriculums to teach without the technology. As a result, Xander was out of school yesterday. Him and his buddies had a crazy idea to go camp outside last night…. we have yet to hear how that worked out for him, but he is one lucky kid because Bart has all the gear to help him camp out in 20 degree weather in the middle of the winter without being too uncomfortable!

  • Mercedes launched a new “Fairy Talent Sorting Candle” on TikTok. She made 150 of them and has sold out over half of them in a day. Not bad! And super cute! It’s based on the Pixie Hollow fairies - whatever color the candle changes to is the fairy talent that you get!

  • Our son, Cobe, traveled to Bali yesterday. He lived in Thailand for two months and will now live there for two months. We know he made it, but have yet to hear about his travels and how everything is going there so far!
